Private Patients

How do I refer to you Privately?

I am able to see private patients after receiving a written referral letter which can be faxed or posted to my private secretary at One Health:

Where do you hold your Private Clinics?

I am able to see patients in clinics at the following sites:

Claremont Hospital, Sheffield
Thornbury Hospital, Sheffield
Scott Practice, Doncaster

Where do you organise patient investigations?

Should your patient require a flexible sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy, I perform these procedures at Claremont or Thornbury Hospital in Sheffield. I do not perform gastroscopies, but can organise this procedure with an experienced consultant colleague in One Health, and I will review all results myself.

If your patient needs USS, CT or MRI, these tests will be performed at Claremont or Thornbury Hospital in Sheffield.

Where do you operate?

I operate in lists at Claremont or Thornbury Hospitals in Sheffield. I would hope to be able to accommodate you, if you or your patient had a particular preference on the hospital.

NHS Patients

How do I refer to you through the NHS?

There are two ways that your patients can be seen by me in the public sector. Firstly, I am a full time NHS Consultant at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You can send a written referral to the General Surgical Department, and your patient will be seen by myself or one of my colleagues.

How do I refer to your Choose and Book clinics?

I work in partnership with the One Health Group , and my Choose and Book clinics will be available to access through your Choose and Book website. You can also access these appointments by sending a direct referral to my secretary at One Health, and the appointment will be sent to your patient in the post:

Where are your ‘Choose and Book’ clinics held?

I hold clinics at the following sites:

Claremont Hospital, Sheffield
Thornbury Hospital, Sheffield
Scott Practice, Doncaster

Where do Choose and Book patients go for investigations?

I perform endoscopy at Claremont or Thornbury Hospital in Sheffield. Any radiological investigations will also be performed at these sites.

Where do Choose and Book patients go for any operative intervention?

I operate in lists at Claremont or Thornbury Hospital in Sheffield.

Are there any advantages with referring to you through 'Choose and Book'?

The main advantage for your patients with Choose and Book, is that I am often able to see patients quickly, and organise their investigations and operations in a far more timely fashion than a standard referral to an NHS hospital.

Are there any disadvantages with referring to you through 'Choose and Book'?

It must be made clear to your patients, particularly if they are from in and around Doncaster, that their clinic appointment will be local, but their investigations and procedures, will be in Sheffield. That may be a problem if there are transport issues, or your patient is particularly frail or elderly.

Choose and Book would also not be appropriate for someone in whom you are highly suspicious of malignancy, or if you have a patient with significant comorbidities. In this situation, I believe it is safer to perform investigations and operations in an NHS hospital setting.
